Since a Meet Director oversees all activities that occur during a meet, they must be prepared to take on any task, which includes managing weigh-ins, conducting equipment checks, using LiftingCast for scoring and assigning flights, facilitating drug testing, uploading results, recording referee duties, and submitting drug test kits.

Many of the responsibilities a Meet Director handles are often hidden from view. Tasks such as creating a budget, keeping the athletes informed, recruiting sufficient staff, and having contingency plans for … well, just about anything! As the Meet Director, you are responsible for everything that happens during the meet. This means that a Meet Director must be equipped to handle any situation that arises. This includes knowing how to effectively schedule and plan a meet, order the lifter flights, and understand all the rules that apply both on and off the platform. Additionally, you need to manage the scoreboard and liftingcast, oversee weigh-ins for athletes, including both guest lifters and those who may be over or under weight, as well as handle drug tests and record keeping. You will also need to address any errors, manage relifts, resolve misloads, and oversee the deadlift 3rd attempts, all while ensuring accurate results are uploaded.
